Joan Bashforth

I have drawn since I was very small. In the sixties I painted (badly) in oil and did not paint at all while my children were growing up.

In 1989 I joined Thameside Art Group. I think my painting has improved as a result of the help, encouragement and enthusiasm I found there. I like to paint flowers, still life and landscape in acrylics, pastel and watercolour. It is rewarding to have a good painting at the end of what is sometimes frustrating work, but most of the enjoyment comes from actually painting. The end result is not important if you have enjoyed the process and I find painting in any medium a very absorbing and satisfying pastime.
